Yes, they really did! As someone who’s passionate about travel and everyday carry (EDC), I was eager to check out the well known CPL 24 in this limited version.

Ever since getting my hands on the Olive waxed canvas version of the CPL 24 I knew I had to try this bag. I could not deal with the orange interiors of the Griffin version. The standard grey interior always seemed boring to me as well, but the coyote interior of this X-Pac version really spoke to me and I jumped on the opportunity to check it out!

Here’s my take after unboxing and loading it up for the first time, along with a teaser for what’s to come as I put it through its paces in San Diego.

First Impressions

Fresh out of the box, the Evergoods CPL24 from the 2025 X-Pac Capsule is a striking piece of gear with a premium look and an all black sleekness. The X-Pac fabric stands out—its black, solution-dyed 840D ballistic nylon with an X-Ply layer feels technical yet refined, with a subtle sheen that doesn’t scream for attention. The bag has the standard CPL 24 specs with a 24-liter capacity, measuring 18” x 7” x 11.5” and weighing around 3.1 pounds.

First glances:

  • The 3D spacer mesh back panel is slicker than I realized.
  • The YKK AquaGuard zippers glide smoothly right out of the box.
  • Love the classic Evergoods small hook-and-loop logo.
  • The 24L capacity maybe more bag than I need.

What’s Next: A Month in San Diego

I’m using the CPL24 in San Diego for a month of remote work, where I’ll test it in urban commutes and coastal adventures. I’m curious to see how the X-Pac material holds up against salty air and sand, how the 24-liter capacity fares, and whether the harness remains comfortable with heavier loads.

Stay tuned for a full review after I’ve put it through real-world scenarios, from coffee shop work sessions to beach adventures.
