We have three large art prints that come from three different hikes we took in our first year of living in Las Vegas.
#1 — Waipio Valley in Hawaii
This photo comes from the hike down to the valley floor of Waipio Valley on the Big Island of Hawaii. This is one of the most beautiful places on earth, but also one of the steepest roads to walk down on the planet! We walked down (and back up!) here while I was about halfway through pregnancy on our “babymoon”. Find out more about this hike and others on the Big Island here.
#2 — Red Rocks of Las Vegas
This photo comes from the end of a hike called Girl Scout in the Calico Basin area of Red Rock National Preserve in Las Vegas. We spent many evenings catching the sunsets on our first (very hot) days of living in Las Vegas. We do come here often still, but we get there from the Red Springs parking lot from a trail called Calico Hills. One day, we’ll get out for more sunset photos. Currently, it conflicts with bath time and bed time for the baby though! We wrote about this trail in this guide to Shady Trails of Red Rocks here!
#3 — The Summit of Mount Charleston in Nevada
This photo is taken right before we finished hiking to the summit of Mount Charleston. Mount Charleston is the tallest peak in southern Nevada, and possibly the most challenging hike I have ever done due to the amount of elevation gain required. These are all sweet memories of our first months after moving to Nevada and our last months as a family of two. Now that we have a new camera, perhaps we need to update our prints!
