When we moved to Southern Nevada, checking out Boulder City was not on the top of my priority list. I had a low expectations for what the town had to offer, purely based off of the depiction of Boulder City in the movie La La Land! Well, we have been to Boulder City a few times now, and I would be interested in spending more time there. The downtown is cute and nostalgic, plus there is the Hoover Dam and Lake Mead Recreational area, and the entire city is extremely bike-friendly. Here are our favorite things to do in Boulder City.

Hikes and Bikes

Bike the Railroad Tunnel Trail to the Hoover Dam
This is one of the best trails in the area. The historic tunnels are eye-popping, you ride with views of Lake Mead most of the way, and you can easily check out the Hoover Dam at the end of your ride.

Hike the Lake Mead Bluff Trail
A nice trail to enjoy views of the lake, while casually walking along a trail. I remember hiking this while very pregnant, and it was a great way to keep walking at this stage while staying close to home.

Check out Hemenway Park
An awesome place with the unique experience of seeing Big Horn Sheep at a seemingly average park otherwise.

Eats and Sips

Big T’s Cantina
This place was easy to work with us on ordering a vegan meal. The guacamole was amazing — a must order with the pineapple in our opinions.

Colorado River Coffee Roasters
This is where we get our espresso coffee beans for our home espresso machine, and it is some of the best coffee in the world! Check out the Facebook page linked here to find coffee shops in the Boulder City area that use Colorado River Coffee Roasters, and you will not be disappointed. Our favorite coffee shop on wheels in Las Vegas, Doppio, uses their beans too!
