When David and I were dating and working in downtown Indianapolis, we had a standing Friday lunch date every week (we miss you, Three Carrots!). It was the best part of working in downtown Indianapolis and the best part of the week!

Once we started working remotely, we continued our Friday lunch dates. Then we moved to Las Vegas, and with lunch breaks at 9 or 10 am (working Eastern Time hours still..) going out to lunch did not exactly make sense. Slowly, they fizzled away, but every once in a while, we find ourselves with the opportunity to go out to lunch still.

Earlier this week, we tried a new-to-us spot, Tarantino’s Vegan. It is an all-vegan, all-Italian place in the Southwest area of Las Vegas (close to Graze Kitchen!). Prior to visiting, I had this impression that it was a formal place or a place for special occasions.

Tarantino’s is not that, but the food is quite special and one of the best meals we have had in a while.

We started with garlic bread, a caesar salad, and steamed vegetables. All three were delicious, although the Caesar salad really stands up as well as the steamed vegetables for our 8 month old. She loves carrots and the steamed vegetables had carrots that were soft enough for her and cut in a way that was perfect for her to hold. This had her in heaven for the whole time at the restaurant!

For our meals, I built my own pasta bowl (on special right now!) with gluten free noodles, (gf) sausage, spicy marinara, and a whole bunch of vegetables. David ordered the chicken parmesan, which was also fantastic. We did order a kid’s Mac n’cheese because we forgot to bring food for Leah, and we thought we would see how she would do with it. She was far more interested in the carrots, but David and I certainly enjoyed her leftovers!

Tarantino’s also has a marvelous dessert display, and we seriously wanted to try everything. We ended up with a piece of chocolate cake and a slice of tiramisu. We had those to go, because we were stuffed, but they were such a happy treat with coffee later.

If we were to make an updated list of our favorite vegan spots in Las Vegas, Tarantino’s just might make the list! 🙂 More vegan options in Las Vegas can be found here and desserts/treats here.
