You guys know that we love to travel, and even when it is extra challenging with a little one, we still find the joy and excitement around the new experience!

This February, I had the unique opportunity to take four weeks of sabbatical time from work. We had many ideas on where to go, how to use this time, but our ultimate goal is to spend quality time together as a family of three.

After many discussions, we ended up deciding to go to Nevis (of Saint Kitts & Nevis) in the Caribbean. David’s sister lives there and works at the Four Seasons, so we knew it likely would be the *only* time that we would have the opportunity to visit her.

We packed up all of the essentials and flew Delta from Las Vegas to Atlanta, then Atlanta to Saint Kitts. From Saint Kitts, the Four Seasons arranged a shuttle/taxi to a boat then the boat took us to the dock of the Four Seasons resort. With a warm welcome from several Four Seasons staff, along with David’s sister and her husband, we were finally there!

Four Seasons, Nevis, West Indies

The first week, we stayed at the Four Seasons. There was so much to do, and even lots to do for toddlers. The Kids For All Seasons (KFAS) was a great place to let Leah run around and play with toys indoors. They also had an outdoor playground that we also used frequently.

We were overwhelmed with how friendly all of the staff were to our family, and especially our daughter. They remembered her name, always came up to her at breakfast to say hello or dance with her, or be silly in hopes for a smile or laugh! Also, we loved that kids under 5 ate for free at all of their restaurants. Such a big savings!

The biggest highlight for us at the Four Seasons were the pools and the splash pad. The Limin pool had such a friendly area of about 8 inches deep of water where Leah could run and be independent. The steps were so long too, and she had so much fun practicing her confidence in the pool.

Other parts we loved — the beach, the basketball and tennis courts, having cribs and diaper trash cans brought to the room, and renting golf carts to look for monkeys!

Restaurants

We enjoyed having vegan options at every restaurant on the Four Seasons property. Additionally, we had several great meals outside of the resort too.

Indian Summer

Perhaps our favorite and one we frequently visited for dinner within our two week trip! I

Vegan Spot (in downtown Charlestown)

Such a great lunch spot! Leah became quite friendly and entertaining for the other patrons. 🙂 The menu changes daily with over 12 options.

Yachtsman Grill

Yachtsman has a beautiful access to the beach. Since we were there right around sunset, we attempted family pictures. However, Leah wanted to play in the sand uninterrupted. 🙂
The pizza and vegan sorbet was very good!

Golden Rock Inn (especially the breakfast!)

Golden Rock Inn had an amazing vegan Chickpea omelette! They had great breakfast options such as oat pancakes, breakfast potatoes, fruit, juices, coffee, and lattes with nondairy milk. The scenery of Golden Rock Inn is so beautiful and beautifully designed with plants, ponds, waterfalls, and it is such a peaceful place. It would be very neat to stay the night there.

IQueens Vegan Ice Cream

Wow, we ate ice cream every night, because of IQueens. You can find it in the grocery store, or if you have their WhatsApp contact information, you can order it directly from the business owner. My favorites were coconut and lilikoi. We also tried chocolate, vanilla, and soursop!

Must See Attractions

Nevis Botanical Gardens

Wow, such a peaceful and beautiful property to walk around, relax, and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

Cow Beach

Not far from the beach of the Four Seasons is a public beach known as Cow Beach. It really is a nice beach too!

Waterfall Hike

It wouldn’t feel like vacation without a good hike, and as you know, we’ve been fine-tuning our ability to hike with Leah since she’s been born! We usually carry Leah in the Thule baby carrier, but we wanted to limit our luggage so David hiked with her in another one of our favorites — the Ergobaby carrier. David’s sister and bro-in-law took us on this hike, and it was beautiful!

Malcolm Guishard Recreational Park and Playground

There is a new park near Sunshine’s bar and grill that has a new playground. Complete with swings, a teeter toter, slides, and things! We made a few trips there, and we could walk there from the beach of Four Seasons.

Day Trip to Saint Kitts

We went to Saint Kitts for a day and we explored the Brimstone Hill Fortress National park (pictured below). We also looked through a Batika, and learned how the original art form of Batika is done with layers of wax and dyes. Then we stopped in Frigate Bay where we picked up vegan nachos and lattes at Coconut Grove. We also picked up sushi to-go from Asian Voyage for dinner later that night, which we took back to Nevis with us on the ferry!

We love going to new places both near and far and I think you will too, like Hawaii, Mexico, Las Vegas, the broader Southwest, or somewhere else. If you’re intimidated by the thought of traveling with a baby or infant — try out some of our favorite tips, tricks, and gear.
