All of us in the Rose family are big fans of Hawaii. So far, we have visited Maui and the Big Island. Both hold special memories of special adventures. Our most recent trip to the Big Island was a babymoon/birthday trip. We made the most of our trip by visiting spots around the entire island, but one spot stands out as one of our favorites: Kiholo Bay.

Best parts of Kiholo Bay:

-We saw sea turtles every time we went

-It is easy to find a private spot, and it is not very crowded

-The water is slightly warmer than the other beaches and less salty

-The sea turtles really deserve more than one point

Least favorite part of Kiholo Bay:

-It does require a bit of trek through sand, sun, and lava rock to arrive there.

Around 22 weeks pregnant with baby Leah!

We came back to this spot a few times while staying in Kona. It was our favorite way to relax in the sun, while also cooling off in the water when we got too hot. We brought books, picnic lunches, snorkel gear, and plenty of water! The snorkeling did involve sights of a few different types of fish, but it was not the best spot for snorkeling. With so many sea turtle sightings at Kiholo Bay, we endearingly bought a sea turtle onesie from a Hawaiian baby clothes brand for baby at first sight. This also happened to be one of the first things we bought for baby! It reminds us of Hawaii and days at Kiholo Bay when she wears it now!

Thinking about other big trip ideas? Consider Tepotzlan, Mexico, Las Vegas, Nevada, or Tucson, Arizona!
